What is Sensitive Skin?
Did you know that over 20 percent of adults have sensitive skin? If your skin is sensitive, you may notice itching, burning and stinging. Many people with sensitive skin will also have dry skin that feels very sore and/or tight. People with this skin type can react to ingredients in their skin products as well as sudden climate changes or an increase in personal stress levels.
What causes Sensitive Skin?
Sensitive skin problems are often caused by UV rays, Stress, strains, Dryness and etc. These sources of problems break the barrier function of the skin.
In addition, people who have allergic constitution from their inheritance, possibly have sensitive skin too. Appropriate cleansing, moisturizing, and UV protection are required to keep healthy skin condition.
How do we know that we have Sensitive Skin?
Knowing your Skin type is very important.
Skin type depends on three main factors:
* Sensitivity levels, which denotes the skin's tolerance and resistance to any harsh irritants.
* Lipid(oil) content, which renders the skin healthiness, softness and elasticity.
* Water content, which promotes moisture and comfort.
In order to determine your skin's condition, it's helpful to become familiarized with the various skin types:
Dry skin is dull and occasionally red, and often marked by flakes and rough patches. The pores are practically invisible, and the skin may be normal or oily at times. It is usually quite delicate and responds negatively to environmental stressors, such as excessive cold or heat. - Normal skin is generally healthy. It is free of visible pores and imperfections, boasts a sufficiently balanced amount of both lipid and water content and is not overly sensitive. The texture is smooth and even.
- Oily skin is usually shiny in the T-zone (the area comprised of the forehead, nose and chin) and may suffer from blackheads and blemishes. Pores are also enlarged. Oiliness may be extreme or may change in response to hormones and the environment. Excess sebum production may cause the skin to appear waxy and thick.
- Combination skin, as one might imagine, is a little bit of everything. The T-zone may be oily, while other parts, such as the cheeks, may feel occasionally rough. Usually the skin is either excessively oily or dry
It is difficult to conclude the sensitive skins accurately without medical checked by dermatologist, as some symptoms are indistinguishable from the general public, and others may not be able to determine by yourself. There are lots of cases, so we are not able to refer the standard of it. However, it's usually evident if the skin reacts strongly to everything from the weather to various products (in many cases, most products cause reactions, making it difficult to determine what to use) Hence, sensitive skinned individuals may opt for Natural or organic skin care products and look out for Dermatologist Tested.
Nevertheless we can tell you some indications of sensitive skins.
・feel roughness and dryness.
・feel any irritation, itch, or ruddy face with use of cosmetics.
・get a rash from own sweat.
・Irregular lifestyle as it affect individual hormones balance.
・Personal Stresses Level, it affects hormones, metabolism causes effect to skin renewal cycle. Skin
natural barrier eventually weaken thus resulted to declining of skin immunity to defend against any
harmful factors.
・cause pain from friction with your clothes.
If you experience any of the above, you are under the risks of developing sensitive skin or you may already have sensitive skin.
How do we know which sensitive skin type we belong to?
Keep track of your symptoms. You have to determine your sensitive skin type from the cause of developed of your symptoms.
Eg. If the UV ray inflames your skin, your immunity can not resist UV ray. So you may have photosensitivity.
Is sensitive skin problem a life time problem or it can be cured?
- It is difficult to recover if the sensitive skins caused by inheritance type of allergy, atopic dermatitis, photosensitivity.
- Sensitive skins caused by condition such as dryness, stresses and strains, friction, can be recovered with good skincare and medicine.
So possibility of recovery depends on cause of problem. But the good news is most problems can be relaxed by daily skin care and medicines.
Sensitive Skin Care Tips
If your skin is sensitive, simplifying your skin care routine will yield the best results. Overloading your face with harsh, abrasive products will only result in more redness and irritation. For example, many exfoliating scrubs are much too rough for people with sensitive skin. You’ll get better results if you remove flakes by gently rubbing your skin with a soft wash cloth.
One of the most common skin care mistakes people make is over-washing their skin especially stroking too hard while wash and apply you daily skincare. If your skin is sensitive, washing your face more than two times per day will do more harm than good. It’s also a good idea to limit your time in the bath or shower to less than 15 minutes. Use warm water to cleanse your face and body; hot water is too drying.
Sunscreen is important for everyone, it’s an essential part of caring for your sensitive skin. Get in the habit of wearing sunscreen with an SPF of 15 – 35 with a minimum of 2 + sign (PA++) (Too high SPF may be a burden to sensitive skin). Reapply after swimming, sweating, or spending more than two hours in direct sunlight.

Now, for a little skincare tip~
Wash – Whipping of Facial Wash (Whipping of cleanser is essential. The bubbles are able to remove the dirts from ur pores. )
Skin Lotion(Toner) – Padding using facial cotton. Padding times = 3 x (your age)
Eg: A 20 year old will have to pat 60times.
*If u don't have the time to do so, here's a quicker way . Roughly guage if ur skin has absorbed enough skin lotion by gently feeling ur skin . If ur skin feels cool to ur touch, it should have absorbed enough skin lotion.
Moisturizer – Apply and spread using palms. Apply from dry to oily area.
Why use palms instead of fingers?
Using palms to apply/spread the moisturizer will ensure that the strength applied on the whole face is even . It is hard to control the strength ur fingers apply on ur face as different strengths are applied by different fingers . Using ur palms are the best and easiest to control the strength used .
We hope this post helps u in caring for ur skin(:
